It is disappointing how the mainstream media has largely forgotten about the plight of LGBT Ugandans. It was just a few years ago that this was all over the news hen they were trying to pass the infamous “kill the gays” bill. But even though LGBT Ugandans continue to be violently persecuted, the West is tragically ignoring it. We need the media to cover these issues more consistently and we need our political leaders to push harder for human rights for all Ugandans, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
