There’s got to be something missing from the article — e.g., @Jack Wiley, the examples in the article are about minor crimes, but nowhere does it say that the principle wouldn’t apply to any crime. “Excessive bail” is unconstitutional, but I was always under the impression that this meant disproportionate to the charge. I didn’t know the court had to do an income check or whatever to determine what a defendant can “afford”.

Like I said, there has to be something the article isn’t explaining.
