London’s Biggest Funk & Soul Night of the Year
When the individual members of Brother Strut aren’t touring with the likes of Gorillaz and Jamiroquai, they find time to do what they really REALLY love — put on spectacular live shows.
On the 6th April, the funk & soul band will be headlining a gig at the O2 Academy Brixton. Yeah, the big one! In fact this will be be their biggest and most ambitious show as Brother Strut, and they’re offering a full evening of entertainment, with organisers already calling this London’s Biggest Funk & Soul Night of the Year.
It’s been a little tricky to catch Brother Strut live this year— due to commitments with other bands they’ve struggled to assemble the full line-up for a major show … which is doubly a shame as they released Shake Your Money earlier this year and haven’t had a chance to play the new material live to much of their fan base. But fear not, now they’ve got everyone committed to a GIANT London show!
They’ll be joined by some fantastic support acts who we can now announce:
Hot funk sensation PBUG will be showcasing some ferocious musical talent and mind-blowing jazz stamina. PBUG have headlined at a number of internationally acclaimed festivals and swept reviewers off their feet with their energy and showmanship. Check out the video below for a little taste!
Nice.
Obviously a full evening of funk & soul has its inherent risks — concussion, hair loss, cholera… so to stay on the safe side there’s a mighty beatbox trio in to break up the funk! Those of you who saw Brother Strut at their last KOKO gig will remember Duke — they’ll be up to their usual mouth wizardry, but with an entirely new set list.
Mike Mayfield will be mixing some awesome covers with new material from his upcoming EP. Mike’s soulful vocals and bluesy guitar playing draw frequent comparisons to John Mayer (but with fewer celebrity girlfriends). We hope you’ll love him as much as we do!
This is going to be an absolutely HUGE night of funk and soul, and we’re delighted to have everyone assembled.

We hope to see you in April!
