Why Creative People Must Make Their Beds

Sorry, but this is completely fallacious– all the research on willpower (see e. g. the highly recommendable digest by Roy Baumeister) contradicts it. The more discipline you need to exert in order to structure your daily life, the less capability you have left to make decisions and create structure in respect to your work. You might feel better with the inner neat freak satisfied (especially with unreasonable judgmental morals attached to that), but in fact you end up spending your energy and time at the wrong place. At least from a creativity/productivity perspective, that is. (One of the saner reasons CEOs and other high executives get paid that much is that they can delegate all mundane affairs without thinking about it and focus exclusively on where it matters.)
