Although I feel that everything you said it’s right — build an external movement that brings customers and die hard fans, I believe that the secret for these organizations is also to build a Cult for the people inside, the employees. If you look at, for example, Salesforce employees, you feel an extreme passion and purpose in what they’re building and selling and for me that is also one of the key points of success.
