Great initiative and questions!
- Should Estonia begin issuing its own crypto tokens to e-residents (as well as citizens and residents)? Can a country have its own ICO?
Definitely yes!
- If so, what should be the biggest considerations in how these crypto tokens are developed?
(i) Blockchain efficiency (time to process transactions), (ii) Governance (the balance between pre-defining the rules for investing the funds and the flexibility to adapt to new opportunities of investment). Could e-residents vote through blockchain in the future on how to invest the money?, (iii) Miners dependence. depending on the blockchain tech used, you might be dependent of miners, that could have a political force on the decisions about the blockchain, (iv) Forks. It is common on the evolution and development of blockchain to have forks. How Estonia would deal with that?
- What do you think the impact of these crypto tokens could be, both for Estonia and for e-residents?
(i) Funds to support the ecosystem, (ii) attract more support from foreigners, (iii) foster transactions on Estonian digital ecosystem, no need to buy euros
Congrats!!! =)
