How Did This Privileged, Happy Boy Become Such an Evil Monster?
Craig Chandler Price: 15-year-old killer determined to destroy his life by shattering the security of others
I don’t know how old I was when I discovered how much the human mind fascinated me. I’ve always had a passion for trying to find out what makes people do the things they do. For instance, I have always asked the following questions:
- What gave Michael Jordan the confidence to continue to play basketball even when he was told he had no business being on the court?
- What went through Ray Featherstone’s head when he realized people would never forget the name Queen? (He famously stated, “Mark my words, nobody will ever remember the name Queen!”)
- Why did Tupac refuse to say who his shooter was before he died?
- Exactly how stoned was Snoop Dogg when they asked him to do a cooking show with Martha Stewart?
Then, in June 1992, I was 16 years old, and I just moved back to Oregon after living with my aunt and uncle in Iowa for a few years. Something happened to me that summer that would have a life-changing impact on me 1.5 years later. I won’t get into any details here, because I will write another article about that experience in the future.
