My Shady Life as an Underage Drinker
Nick Tucker

I agree with you in theory, except for one very glaring reality. You are the exception to most 18 years old. Most 18 year olds do not have the sense of responsibility that you do, and like you said, they are just looking to get wasted. Believe me, I was there (28 years ago) and that is what my friends and I did. One of my friends was able to grow a full beard and looked over 30, so he would buy our supply and then it was all about getting hammered. I’m very glad that cell phones and the Internet were a ways off or I’m sure we’d have tons of unflattering pictures all over social media. It took me years to get to the point where I realized that alcohol could be enjoyed in small doses and not for just escaping reality. I also find it very ironic that the government will trust 18 year olds in the military with heavy weapons and explosives, and also allow them to vote, but not with a beer, but that is an article unto itself.
