Totally right. I incorrectly labeled the CommentBox as Comment.js. Fixing now, but creating that file as CommentBox.js and creating Comment.js as explained a few code gists lower. Let me know if this helps or you run into any other problems!

There have been lots of changes to create-react-app, and the code in this tutorial is out of date (better, easier ways to do things have become common). I am ~90% done with a re-write / update of this tutorial. Look out for it this weekend!
The data file is really only there in the beginning in order to test that all functionality is working as expected. As we move further along, we start getting the data from our mongo db instead of a static file. The issue you are having came from an update to create-react-app where they no longer allow accessing files…
