“I guess my ignorance and my stupidity is why I opened my mouth, and I shouldn’t have, and I claim full responsibility.”
What a surprising admission by Sorrell and hopefully they can sit down because he’s a stinky ass but at least he is looking for honest communication.
Police brutality is key because the people committing these hate crimes scale their actions of what is or is not permissible by the actions of law enforcement. They have to be asking why they are in prison for racist shouts while countless cops have killed or beaten innocent people yet still have their job.
One possible tool (that may or may not already be in service) would be to order them to take classes on racism while in prison. It would even be worth it to reduce the sentences by several years if courses were completed because they could share knowledge on why racism is evil and help elucidate systemic bigotry. Bet they have no idea about the extent to which government and private organizations worked together specifically for the purpose of racism. I doubt they could even explain red lining and how it began.
