Eid Picnic Potluck
To be completely honest, my expectations for this event were pretty low since literally no one decided to sign up for any food items prior to the event. And, as expected, no one brought any real food. I was on a sugar high for about 20 minutes and my crash lasted much longer. To put it simply, the barbecue was a complete fail — starting from the moment we got there struggling to find parking, to the cake that got attacked by seagulls, not to mention the part where Neha set the sparklers on fire when trying to light all of them at once. It was interesting… to say the least.
Before the picnic, though, I decided to hike the Spencer Trail with Anum, Amber, Samaher and Samaher’s friend Naixin (Nancy). I’ve been meaning to check it out during the autumn months when the leaves turn to spectacularly vibrant colours, but regardless, the views did not disappoint.

Admittedly, I was not looking forward to this part of our day either. I found out that Nabeel invited himself to our hike, meaning that (yet again) I was going to be forced to awkwardly third wheel on my day out with Amber. He ended up cancelling last minute anyway, so I didn’t end up being an excuse for them to hang out.
The entire trail was just gorgeous! It was a really easy hike which I would suggest to all beginners. I was surprised to find out that Webster’s Falls and Tew’s Falls were also connected to the same trail. Though, I have to admit the falls did end up being hella underwhelming since the area is currently facing a drought. In the past, hikers were able to trek down to the bottom of the waterfalls and dip their feet in the water. The falls are now fenced off, prohibiting visitors from doing so. I’ve seen a lot of pictures posted recently of people swimming down there, though, so I’m sure there has to be some way to get there.

I‘m definitely going to come back to this trail in the fall with Raafe! I’m sure it would look 10x more gorgeous than it already does.
