A Brief Summary of the Presentation
After opening with a very brief overview of DNV GL and it’s 150+ year history, Renato explained how the current supply chain functions and isolated some concerns and issues including the trust gaps within the current model.
Renato went on to talk about blockchain, but instead of describing it himself, he played a short video of Sunny Lu (VeChain CEO) describing blockchain in a very simple explanation.
“I would like to share with you a video of a friend of mine who is trying to give you a simple definition of what blockchain is”
Renato continued speaking about the strategic partnership agreement in which they signed with VeChain earlier in the year and said the partnership is already set to be “flying off”.
He mentions there are many projects together on the VeChain platform but uses two working examples.
“Blockchain technology is going to change and reshape the supply chain”.
The first project is a cold chain logistics project for “a very big retailer in Asia” making sure that ready to eat food is reaching the consumer in a safe and temperature controlled way using patented sensors.
Renato spoke about one of the most disruptive technologies in this sector, blockchain, and the new Digital Assurance concept that is the foundation of “My Story™”, with the wine sector as the first adopter.
There are three key features for clients using My Story™
- To allow for higher data integrity and transparency levels across the entire supply chain
- To leverage on available data to boost quality and productivity
- To enhance the consumer experience by building and communicating trust in products
The Italian wine sector is the first to use the new solution, with the four wine producers Michele Chiarlo, Ricci Curbastro, Ruffino and Torrevento being the frontrunners.
