Must-Watch Holiday Classics

It’s the beginning of December, which means that you are roughly 3 months late to the Christmas season. “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” has been on the radio since Labor Day, but your sorry ass couldn’t stop stuffing your face for lesser holidays like “Halloween” or “Thanksgiving” long enough to enjoy perennial classics like “Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer” or “Die Hard”. Fret not, for in the spirit of the season I have compiled a list of lesser-known, but timeless, holiday films that you can eye-chug through your undeserving face holes.

  1. A Very Cheadle Christmas (2014) — after being compared unfavorably to Terrence Howard one too many times, Don Cheadle wonders if everyone would be better off if he’d never been born. A guardian angel (played by Patton Oswalt in the first half and Danny Devito in the second) must convince him that the Marvel Universe wouldn’t be the same without him.

Trivia:

  • The scene where Cheadle attempts to self-immolate in his War Machine suit took 17 takes to get right due to a crew member’s uncontrollable flatulence feeding the flames. In the 4K release, you can tell that Cheadle’s eyebrows are drawn on with a Sharpie in the subsequent scenes
  • Terrence Howard was originally cast to play Don Cheadle but walked away after discovering the other actors were getting paid for the film

2. Dreidel to the Grave (2003) —Whacky antics ensue when a successful ad executive (Drew Barrymore) brings her Jewish boyfriend to Christmas dinner at her…
