I write. I teach writing. One of my greatest challenges as a teacher is working with the students to help them lose their crippling self-consciousness about “THE READER.” I also guide them away from freaking out about publication before they can even write. My job as a writer is to be patient, listen to whatever story is shaping itself and bring it through.

Oh. Wait. I’m talking about writing, not about written content. I’m talking about stories and essays and poems, not social media posts. I’m talking about the ancient gift — as old as human language — of story. And, I don’t give a fuck if anybody reposts this.
