Take a good creative writing course with a teacher who is a writer. Look up Elmore Leonard’s ten rules for writing. Read at least twice as much as you write. Lose the “Publish or Perish” mentality. Only write when you want to…and 7. If you’re not having fun, you should do something else. Finally, lose the “everyone” “everybody” take on things. You are not everybody. Everybody isn’t you.
