Isn’t the effective manager always living in the question of “How much is enough?” It’d be wrong to think that it’s a good thing if stuff is going off the rails. It depends on what is going off the rails, doesn’t it? And if nothing is ever going off the rails it raises the question as to whether reasonable risks are being taken, people and goals are being stretched and sufficient latitude is being granted to take those risks.
