It’s Time to Start Calling Evangelicals What They Are: The American Taliban
JC Weatherby

This is the main reason Gorsuch — and probably any SCOTUS pick Trump makes — should not be approved by a single Democrat in the Senate. Gorsuch is openly hostile to religious freedom. It is not an exaggeration at all to call evangelicals the American Taliban. The only difference between evangelicals and the Taliban is that the United States has a more robust legal framework and system of checks and balances to prevent them from exercising their oppression over the American people than Afghanistan has for curbing the Taliban. But, that can certainly be undone, and each appointee like Gorsuch, cabinet secretary like DeVos, and elected official like Pence represents a step in the direction of accomplishing just that.

What can you do? Help get an After School Satan Club going at your kid’s school, or join up with any organization out there fighting religious injustice. You certainly can’t defeat the oppression of the religious right by rolling over and taking it. You have to fight back. That, or pray that evangelicals will wake up someday and think, “You know, I think I’m going to leave all these heathens alone and stop trying to make them behave the way I want them to.” Good luck with that.
