One has to wonder how this will affect human behavior and thought processes since the argument here is that many of our decisions will be managed and controlled by software. A marketer’s dream that will allow them to shave off the top 5 of my 10 decision criteria to lead me to a product that had I engaged in the deep analysis that comes with using my own intelligence, I would not have purchased — assuming that I become lazy enough to add my brain to the couch full of potatoes.
Or, will it be a chance for those with an agenda to filter facts to show me only what they have decided I should see? Facebook already famously tried this and was exposed, so certainly no trust of that organization that they will not try to continue to promote their agenda via AI.
But, a future that allows a machine to instantly consider thousands of options for a medical diagnosis, now that’s certainly one of many similar applications that everyone can embrace without either being unduly influenced or surrendering our ability to reason.
