It’s time to drop the accusations and start aspiring…

For our discussion, we’ll consider this definition of the word Aspire — eagerly or ambitiously aiming for a particular goal.

Disunity is your enemy — not your family

To work ourselves out of a bad situation, we need to get our friends and enemies clearly categorized. Otherwise, how do we strategize? How do we know who and what to support? How do we know who or what to avoid?

Clearly, when it comes to family debt, we will accomplish nothing if we categorize other family members as enemies. …

A thin line runs between betrayal and sacrifice. Figuring out the difference could cost a man his heart.

Corey took hold of Tiffany’s arm and led her a few feet from the car. “Why do you let him talk to you that way?” He lowered his voice so the boy wouldn’t hear what he had to say. “You’ve got to set limits or he’s going to walk all over you.”

“Who are you to give lessons? Her blue eyes darkened with resentment. “I don’t see you moving up on his list of friends.”

“He doesn’t need friends; I presume he’s got plenty of those. He needs parents that aren’t pushovers.”

“I’m not a pushover. He’s usually very respectful…

These stories entertained me, taught me, and inspired me

Looking for new writers is a daunting job on Medium. So having some personal recommendations from other writers is a great idea. Writers appreciate the work, research, and feelings other writers put into their work. After all, writers are readers too. In fact, you have to be a great reader to be a good writer.

These recommendations taught me things I didn’t know, made me question what I thought I knew, and for a quiet time, romanced my heart.

But first, you have to think!

Everybody wants to change something. It’s either themselves, someone else, or the world in general.

CHANGE is proceeded by thought. If we could focus on the right thoughts, can you imagine how great a change we could begin?

In this series, we’re going to practice thinking. One thought or question to ponder each time. Will it make a profound difference in your life? Maybe, or maybe not. You’re unique, so I can’t answer for you. But if you have an extra moment to think, follow along with me.

Living on the Wild Side

Depending on where we live, what our cultural background is, and how we understand these terms will most likely affect our personal perspectives.

I’d like to share just one of those perspectives with you today — my own.

I presently live in Texas, USA, and was a teenager in the 1960s and a young adult in the 1970s. I saw firsthand much of the Hippie culture with all its drugs and free morals. Sad to say, that is ALL that some people equate with a Bohemian style of design. But there is so much more…

Today, when I hear the…

Compatible doesn't mean — Mirror image

Isn’t it true that when we have a problem with someone else’s viewpoint it’s usually because it doesn’t mirror our own?

There are cases when a different viewpoint will be totally unacceptable because of moral or legal criteria, things that we cannot ethically agree upon or conscientiously work with. But most often, it’s simply a matter of different perspectives.

So how do we handle viewpoints that are different from our own without confrontation, tension, and irreconcilable results. It might help to consider some synonyms of the word — viewpoint.

  1. Adaptable
  2. Appropriate
  3. Suitable

When we stop to think about these synonyms…

A thin line runs between betrayal and sacrifice. Figuring out the difference could cost a man his heart

Corey waited as the boy turned the thirty-second walk to the library door into a three-minute production. Turtles moved faster. It’s exactly what he’d have done at that age if forced to leave his mother with someone he didn’t trust. With one last scathing glance in Corey’s direction, the kid finally exited the room.

Corey turned on Tiffany, “Explain what you meant about having proof. Why would you leave me in that stinking prison if you could have gotten me out?”

A thin line runs between betrayal and sacrifice. Figuring out the difference could cost a man his heart

Her hesitation was brief. She skirted the desk and settled in the chair next to him, her movements graceful and unhurried. Quiet dignity surrounded her like armor and something else that intrigued him. It was in her eyes. A soul-deep sadness, as if she grieved for something. He shrugged it off, chalking it up to the fact that she’d lost her husband two years earlier.

“Okay,” he said in a low voice heavy with a challenge. “I’m listening.”
She dropped her head for a moment. That was another of her girlhood traits. She’d always had a hard time looking him in…
