What I Learnt From Wearing the Same Thing Every Day

…Mark Zuckerberg does it, Steve Jobs did it, and I have always loved the idea it. And for six days in a row, I ‘deliberately’ wore ox-blood plain T-shirts over a pair of blue colored jean just to get a taste of it. Addicting I must admit, and true to what I expected, this is what I found out -
1. Identifying a style pattern that works for you and sticking to it is far better than trying to be overtly fashionable or keeping up with the trends.
2. It frees up your mental space, and gives you one less thing to worry about
3. Saves you the decision-making process that goes into selecting and matching what to wear every day.
4. It gives you an identity. Repetition is made for emphasis. By appearing the same way, you are invariably making your own personal fashion statement, like a signature — ‘This is who I am.’
5. T-shirts are easier to wash, and do not need ironing (except you want to). So, as someone who takes forever doing his laundry, wearing the same thing saved me precious time.
6. It helps you stay in character and connect with what you are about. This in turn can help you stay in a state of ‘Flow’.
Since I have always kept a lean wardrobe, I think this will only reinforce that. It is important that we wear clothes that best define us and make us feel comfortable with ourselves except one is costuming for a specific themed event say –Halloween. For people who like me find fashion a bit overwhelming, the best way to go is to define your style. Even though you may have to deviate every now and then to fit specific occasions, for the most part, you should be wearing ‘you’.
