Charles Barkley put it best. “Social Media is a chance for losers with nothing to say have their “opinions” heard”. So instead of galvanizing any kind of meaningful action that takes organizing and work, the lazy public gets its satisfaction by social media, posting “ideas” for 6 billion people to read. This provides ample satisfaction for the people who Barkley identifies to believe they are making a difference. No commitment, no research, no information, no work and no testing real ideas in debate leads to a noisy room that drowns out any serious discussion.
