Juxtaposition in Durham

As I pass the homeless man sitting in Durham Central Park across the sprawling development where Liberty Warehouse once stood, I can’t help but think about how his situation is unchanged by the new apartments. He looks on as hundreds of residents, new and old, will have an option to provide shelter for the ones they care for.

And all he can do is watch…

This is not Durham’s destiny.
