I think Point #2 confirms the importance of unique, compelling visuals: they trigger feelings of “arousal” and “dominance” almost immediately, and get people to stop scrolling. Stock images don’t work because they’re canned art. Custom images do work because they’re brand-specific, one-of-a-kind. And they help brands do what brands need to do: stand out as different.

Very useful research and interesting findings! Interesting especially that media outlets are pushing on Instagram Stories but they have still a lower engagement rate than other top accounts. It looks like they have yet to find their way of using Instagram Stories at their best. The exciting thing is there’s a lot of work to do and this is a great platform to experiment with.
