Frederick, I think most people only have a very hazy idea of how the EU institutions work and what costs/benefits result from membership. We have been part of the EU for so long, most people won’t have any real memory of how it was before.
I suspect that if you are sttugling to make ends meet, then the workings of Euratom, the Galileo project, the European Drug Agency or the machinations of the European commission will not be top of your reading list.
I suspect it will only be once the Japanese start moving car factories, trucks start queueing outside Dover (etc, etc, from Project Fear/Reality, depending on your view point) that poor people will realize that maybe there were some benefits to frictionless trade, workers right, environmental standards and all those other annoying things imposed on us by Brussels.
