Guard your spark
There’s a spark I hide inside myself.
It’s glow is burning out.
A spark whose brightness I long for
when my eyes cast down.
All the lies told and all the names they call me
douse water on my flame.
But I must guard this spark inside myself
it’s the only thing I’ve gained.
My ember it burns low today.
Its purpose keeping me still.
One foot at a time.
One step up the hill.
My spark tells me I’ll make it
the world tells me we won’t.
I guard the spark inside myself.
I cannot let it go out.
