Cleaning the black mould and re-painting the area with standard emulsion is ineffective. To begin, unless you use a pre-treatment fungicidal cleaner, such as a paint additive, you are simply spreading invisible fungal spores rather than killing them with your cloth or sponge. Repainting with a standard emulsion then provides nutrition for those spares! Kill the spores with “Mould Cure,” then use our best Anti Mould Paint Additive to make mould-resistant paint. This results in an active film shield that is completely resistant to black mould.

Getting rid of black mould not only removes the unsightly black staining but also reduces airborne fungal spores that have been shown to aggravate respiratory complaints such as asthma. All mould prevention measures are enhanced by good ventilation, which can prevent black mould from forming in the first place. To reduce condensation, keep window trickle vents open, brick vents uncovered, and bathroom windows partially open while showering or bathing.
