UX Trends for 2017 and on

User Experience (UX) is not a fad like “I gotta have the latest iPhone”. Meaning it’s not a trend to watch out for but rather a practice to master for all ages. That’s why I personally don’t like using “UX” and “Trend” in the same sentence. So, I’m not gonna talk about what’s hot this year, I wanna talk about what’s always hot and necessary to build great products.

But first things first…

UX is how your product/service makes people feel when they’re using it. Your customers are frustrated? You probably have a shitty product. You make a user feel joy or cared? You’re very likely to sell again. And that’s what businesses care about. Therefore UX is a design process for crafting meaningful products and services so that people would come back and buy again, not just commodity but any type of behavior you want users to repeat.

UX therefore has no expiration date and it probably doesn’t have a specific start date either (not the term, the practice). Check out Nielsen Norman Group if you wanna get technical about it but I’d like to assume that UX has been around for as long as we humans have been exchanging products/services, even before money. Bottomline, it’s not a trend that fades in time, it’s a process and an ongoing cycle. When it stops, you stop selling.

So, I’ve gathered a list of UX characteristics to master when designing a digital product or service. When you do incorporate these properties to your designs you’re likely to sell more, get more traffic, gain more leads, basically get more of whatever growth metric you have, and not only in 2017! And since this is an article about UX I didn’t wanna feed you the bullets, instead I put together these little info cards that you can just dupe and use in your presentations or blog posts.

Try to master a minimum of 5 of these practices to create a good user experience. The more the better.

Hope you enjoyed it, and don’t forget to share and recommend. I also encourage you to highlight or comment if you agree, disagree or wanna add to the list.
