Band Notes 8–30–2016

Hello Parents & Students,

A few important items of interest before we begin the school year:

Schedule

We begin the Wednesday/Thursday schedule this week. We will usually be in the Stadium on Wednesday, and the side field Thursday. This week, we are on the side field for both nights. Please arrive by 5:45p, so we can begin promptly at 6p

THIS WEDNESDAY — we will meet at 5:30 to learn about an important fund raiser. This will take place in the Band Room.

The GOAL for this week is to review all the drill sets and get the folks that missed camp caught up. Wednesday will be part 4, Thursday part 1, with a quick review of parts 2 & 3 both nights.

Rehearsals are RAIN or SHINE — we will go inside to work music if it should rain.

ALL sections — Guard/Winds/Pit/Battery are expected to attend all rehearsals.

Conflicts

There are always a few conflicts with the schedule.

  • Religious Education — please schedule your Religious Ed classes for Monday or Tuesday. If you are unable to get those days — please drop your student off at 5:45p, then bring them to Religious Class, returning to Band after the class is done. Many churches will work with your schedule.
  • High School Sports — you will always miss Band for a Game, or Match, or Meet etc… However — please plan on splitting the practice time if there is an overlap. Example: Swimming is 4–7p, Band is 6–9p, there’s a one hour overlap. Please leave swimming to be at band for 6:30. You will always miss sports for a Band Competition or Performance.
  • Work — sorry — work is not an excused absence!

ALL PERFORMANCES, INCLUDING FOOTBALL GAMES are Mandatory!

Ad Book Update

Mr. Gulish has graciously agreed to extend the deadline for ads through September 16. Please use this OPPORTUNITY to get your fund raising up to date, and pay down your trip! — http://www.bunnellband.org/Site/Ad_Book_Info.html


Band Trip Payments

We will need to send payments to the tour company in each of the upcoming months. Please follow this schedule:

  • $250 by September 15
  • $500 by October 15
  • Balance of trip by November 10

We must meet our deadlines!


Uniforms

Uniforms will be distributed on Wednesday, September 7. You will recieve your shoes and gloves that day as well.

We will wear the uniforms on Thursday, September 8, during rehearsal.

ONLY students who are CURRENT with their fund raising (a minimum of $150 turned in through fund raising, or personal funds) & ALL FORMS turned in, will be issued a uniform. The only exception is a signed payment plan contract with the Admin at Bunnell PLUS one payment on that contract.


Shoes & Gloves & Theme Tee

Please click here to order your shoes and gloves. You have already been sized at camp — so this is is for payment, as we need to pay for the shoes within 30 days of ordering them.

Schoology Class for Students

We have created a “One-Stop” location for Communications, Files, MUSIC, Discussions & Sharing.

We will be using the “Schoology” Platform, which will work as an App for your mobile devices as well as on your Laptop or Desktop.

Those students who do not currently have a Schoology account, Please visit www.schoology.com and create an account (simple and best of all FREE!) just click on “sign up” and register as a student. (On mobile devices, there’s a “three bars” drop down menu where you can locate the “Sign Up form) Or Log-in., if you already have an account.

You will then need an access code — N3KR8-CRPN2

If you ALREADY have an account, skip the registration and go directly to “Join Class” and enter your Access Code — N3KR8-CRPN2

You will be joining a “class”, not a “group”.

Once you are approved, then you may customize your “avatar” to your liking.
