Hah, I do think canned beans beat the fresh ones in terms of ease. You’ve already done more work just accumulating the onions, peppers, and tomato paste than required to open the can of beans. I always find it amusing when people are like “have you ever thought about doing the much harder and more time consuming option of this food you obviously use for convenience!?” But I know you mean well and they do sound very delicious!
