Due to Malassezia Furfur (the fungus also responsible for the appearance of dandruff on the hair), dermatitis on the beard and eyebrows is a rather annoying disorder not only because it can also represent an aesthetic problem.

To prevent this problem from becoming a source of embarrassment, there is only one trick:

Keeping your proper beard care always be healthy and well-groomed. Since beard hair (and eyebrow hair too) are affected by this problem.

This is certainly not a serious problem … but it certainly should not be underestimated!

Dandruff, the source of the problem

At the beginning of seborrheic dermatitis, there is dandruff — a rather frequent and chronic type of skin disorder.

It usually appears already in childhood (or, at most, during puberty ) and then improves on its own between 45 and 55 years. It mainly affects us, men.

Since it is a problem with which you have to learn to live (even for decades) it is good that you can find a solution to feel at ease even among other people.

But to understand what this solution is, it is good to understand the causes.

The main reason for the appearance of dandruff on the beard and eyebrows is the replacement of the skin under the hair and, as we said at the beginning, due to the fungus responsible for the appearance of dandruff also on the hair.

In fact, the Malassezia fungus needs fat to develop, but since it is unable to produce them on its own, it draws on those found on the skin, beard, and eyebrows.

Since males tend to produce higher amounts of sebum, especially on the scalp, but also on the beard and eyebrows… they are the most affected!

Among the manifestations of this ailment are:

Peeling of the skin;

The appearance of white flakes in the hairs;

Red skin under beard and eyebrows.

Good.

Understanding why it happens (and how it manifests itself) now it’s time to talk about:

Dermatitis on beard and eyebrows: how to get rid of it?

The starting point must necessarily be to contact a dermatologist when you realize you have dandruff problems or a form of seborrheic dermatitis between the beard and eyebrows hair.

In fact, only the specialist will be able to assess the situation and indicate the best treatment .

Unfortunately, however, there is usually no 100% effective therapy to get rid of this problem.

But… luckily for you, there are some remedies that can keep the main causes of this problem at bay.

Avoid particularly aggressive or irritating detergents;

Do not use excessively foaming products.

Use water that is neither too hot nor too rich in chlorine.

For the actual treatment, however, cortisone-based lotions and creams are useful, to be applied in moderation. In fact, if you overdo it, you risk having to increase the number of applications to obtain the same therapeutic effect.

Among the other most common treatments are:

Topical antifungals;

Shampoo with specific bases for your skin;

Emollient (and/or soothing) creams and lotions;

Glycyrrhizic acid.
