This is a really interesting article! I think we cannot afford to downplay the impact of this technology on real people’s jobs. I also think we can’t afford to overplay it — what does the phrase “most common job in the state” mean, related to that map you show? There’s 122 million employed FT people in the USA as of Dec 2015. If there’s really 3.5 million truck drivers I have a little trouble with the phrase “most common job” because it seems like a meaningless or overstated term. 3.5–8.7 million people potentially out of work is a Huge deal, I just don’t think it helps to talk about in terms like that.
