The Future of Work: Creating Purpose-Driven Organizations

A wonderful article — thank you.

Now living in rural Australia and a self-employed ethical piggie farmer, my purpose and meaning is two-fold; one, to provide fabulous, safe and kind conditions for all our affectionate piggies, and: two, advocate on behalf of the 99% of pigs who are confined in hideous Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO’s).

It is an incredibly hard and continuous slog being self-employed, looking after a farm, generating sales, keeping up information flows, preparing products for sale, keeping in touch with customers, then reminding people they haven’t yet paid (cafes, restaurants).

Sometimes it is really difficult to make that transition from micro-enterprise to the next stage where income is reliable and regular. Oh, to be an employee i an organisation inspired by your story — then one can simply and wholeheartedly get on with the doing and not have to worry about the income side of living.
