Travelling the world is not for everyone
I am tired of all those trendy posts called “Why you should travel the world…” or “10 things why you must travel around the world”, or even “You must travel on your own to…”. Well, you got an idea. Various bullshit.
Let me tell you one important thing about those posts — no one can tell you that you should or must travel. Or how to travel. Or where to go. Moreover, you really don’t need travel if you don’t want to. No one knows you better than you do and if you don’t like travelling, then don’t.
Every one of us if we travel, we do it because of the different reasons. For me, travelling is the way to grow and learn. Some people asking me — why the hell I still don’t have my own place and can’t live the normal life. Well, what is the normal life for them is not normal for me. With my wife, we lived in two countries and now decided to do a long trip (only with backpacks) starting from Thailand. Where we end up — we don’t know. We just want to visit different countries and explore them in a way we like to do it. This is a normal life for us. This is how we grow, this is how we learn and find new things and experiences. Finally, this is how we get inspired and feel that we are not wasting our lives.
We will have boring days, we will have exciting days, we will try a lot of different food, will have funny moments with the locals, sometimes I bet not that funny ones too. We will get new ideas and we will learn new skills.
Should you do the same to become a better person or to grow? Should you travel the world to become happy? I can’t tell you. You and only you (and / or your partner) know it. Don’t be too romantic and optimistic about traveling the world and don’t think this is for everyone. It is not. It needs planning, it needs courage and it requires full commitment. It is not a magic pill that brings happiness. Also, remember you will need to support yourself. We are lucky that we can work remotely, but how about you? You don’t think that traveling the world is free, right?
So loose your pink sunglasses, get real and think before you make a commitment to travel the world. Always remember — if you can’t find happiness inside you, you will not find it anywhere in this world.
