Zion — NBA 2k21 Cover Star
So there we have it…the news we all knew. Zion Williamson is the second cover athlete for NBA 2k21. He will take the reins on NBA 2K21 for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.
It’s been quite the year for the 19-year old. Drafted №1 by the Pelicans after a monstrous Freshman campaign at Duke, a $75million sneaker deal with Jordan and multi-year endorsements with Gatorade and Mountain Dew. All of that after sitting almost half of the season injured! You understand when he says that the past year has ‘been a lot to process’, I’m sure if I was where he was at 19, I wouldn’t have the slightest clue of how to begin processing it.
The news was delivered to him by his mother, to which he describes as ‘a dream come true’, not only to grace the cover, but to be mentioned in the same sentence as NBA greats Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Giannis Antetekounmpo and Anthony Davis.
He’s for sure going to be the next superstar of the NBA, and with a great young core around him including Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Jaxson Hayes, alongside highly talented vets such as JJ Redick and Jrue Holiday, the ceiling couldn’t be higher. Not only for Zion, but this is a huge marketing opportunity for 2k. Watch the release video below.
NBA 2k21 is available to pre-order July 2. It will release on current gen consoles in October 2020, with no release date currently announced for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.
