Interview Questions (part 1)

Too many interviewers neglect the infinite variety of the english language and settle for common, trite, and frankly meaningless questions that we all have heard before. No one will actually tell you their greatest weaknesses, and we all know what it’s like to overcome a challenge. Hiring managers seem to forget that they have to work with the people they’re bringing on board, and the typical questions can’t possibly give you a sense of who the interviewee really is.

I’ll be i̶r̶ regularly posting my own interview questions that are less focused on what the person can do and more focused on discovering what they’re really all about. Feel free to use any of the following to spice up your hiring experience:

  • What is your favorite muppet?
  • What is the best compliment you’ve received?
  • What is your spirit vegetable?
  • If you had to be an aisle in the supermarket, which would you be?
  • What is the most valuable trait in a friend?
  • If you had to be an article of clothing, what would you be?
