We all love to drink coffee, especially when it comes with perfectly blended cream and ice cubes.
But did you know that drinking this cup of stimulant on an empty stomach in the morning may pose some health complications in the long run?
According to Trending News Portal, you might experience the following if you continue this rather unhealthy habit:
1. Stomach Acidity
If you drink a cup of coffee on an empty stomach and you’re an individual who’s prone to acidic foods, then your stomach might react to coffee in a different way. The stomach is able to release hydrochloric acid whenever it digests food.
If you drink the stimulant without any digested meal inside you, the hydrochloric acid will mix in with the acid included in the coffee mix. In an especially acidic person, this might cause heartburn, irritable bowel movement, and even stomach ulcers.
2. Increased Anxiety
Coffee can reportedly reduce the brain’s capacity to produce a hormone called serotonin, which is the hormone responsible for feeling happy.
If you drink coffee without anything else digested in your stomach, the caffeine can compel the brain to release more cortisol, which is also called the stress hormone — and the one responsible for an adrenaline-inducing effect.
Furthermore, it might even lead to depression or severe anxiety if the habit continues.
If you drink too much coffee on empty stomach, then the chances of your body excreting fluid will definitely increase as well. In the long run, it might lead you to be dehydrated.
4. Appetite Loss
Apparently, if you drink coffee without taking any meal first, then it might cause you to have appetite loss because your taste buds would no longer anticipate a proper meal, complete with rice and viands.
It was also noted that one should drink coffee at around 10 a.m. to 12 noon because your body is able to absorb the stimulant more because you have already eaten a meal.
