The Critical Need For In-House Tech People In Airline Operations

Operation needs to innovate. Innovation is infused by 2 factors; creativity+technology. No doubt, many companies have creativity in the house. But so many of them are lack of one critical thing — technology.

More often than not, large organisation prefer to go with big vendors like SAP to manage their operational data. The problem with this is, vendor-locking hurts cost and flexibility.

If we have software engineering team in-house, we will solve two problems. First, our cost will be bottom low over the long term instead of locking ourself to vendor’s term. Second, the team is flexible enough to tackle problem from one function to another, integrating the whole structure together.

If this is not the case, innovative companies like Uber, Slack and others wont choose this path.

It is now more important than ever to start building our tech muscles of we want to remain competitive as an organisation.
