Almost ten years have passed since the Undercover Brothers Ug’s duo of Jay K Mulungi and Timothy Kirya released their debut record, At Dawn. The Ep which was released in December 2014 had songs Nsikatila, Kilalu, Like a Diamond, Munyenye and Mama.
The lead single Nsikatila became the most popular song off the album and even received favorable airplay mostly on radio. None of the other songs really made it on rotation on radio or television. Kilalu also received popularity during live performances but always came second after Nsikatila.
The album was never released world wide or on any streaming platforms. The brothers stopped working especially recording together as a duo and instead formed a live performing band that has been performing in Uganda since around 2016. Both Jay K Mulungi and Timothy Kirya have each released solo projects and show no future prospects of the duo ever recording or writing together. We can only hope they continue performing live together.
The album At Dawn doesn't was their first and may be their last, but we can keep our hands crossed.
