Wheels

For the wheel conversion you will need ‘sumo’ wheels and of course street tires. 17 inch wheels are the very common for supermoto because the handle better and lower the bike .

Tire selection is also important because it affects the height of the bike. A really wide rear tire can negatively affect performance. You should do research on your bike to find the year and model to get the best fit. Also search online to see if other people with the same bike as you have also done a conversion.

Lights

This is non negotiable if you are going to ride street. Different states and countries have different requirements but the most common are headlight (hi/low beam), brake light, turn signals and reflectors. This is pretty easy to install if you follow the instructions. You will also need a bigger power supply to power all the lights. I strongly advise that you get a regulator so you don’t burn out the lights.

Brakes

When upgrading your bike you will need to get a new set of front brakes. The fastest way to improve braking power is to get a bigger rotor. Because bigger is always better. 320 mm is a popular rotor size for supermotos. Now you will also need a relocation bracket. Make sure that you purchase the correct bracket. Calipers with four or six pistons are common because they will give you more stopping power.

Accessories

Here’s a list of items you will need to make sure that your bike can be converted to supermoto successfully. I have linked some sites that have good parts.

Hopefully this guide has helped you in some way to convert your dirt bike to a street legal supermoto.
