New York City

NYC, July 2017

Food, fashion, people and art. I spent a week living like a true new yorker.

Unknown intervention at Brooklyn Bridge

I stayed at a little department in Harlem, in the north part of Central Park. First of all, the location of the apartment was perfect. It was right next to the 110th Cathedral Parkway Central, very convenient as my only way of transportation was the subway.

I was specially excited about this trip as I’ve always been a fan of New York’s art and street fashion. I had to witness everything with my own eyes.

Quattro formaggi pizza at Filaga, Chelsea Market.

Chelsea Market has become one of my favorite places on earth. I had heard and read wonders about this place, tons of travel and food blogs talking about it. And it didn’t dissappoint me at all. It has everything from food to books and shops, to independent artists selling their artwork.

Great food, great vibe.

MoMa Café 2

Eating at one of the most beautiful museums in the world was a whole different experience. Yeah, the food is great, italian “brunchy” style. But my favorite part of eating at MoMa’s Café 2 was the service and experience itself. It has a fast food ordering system. The tables force you to sit with strangers as they are for aproximately ten people, so unless you are with nine other friends, you will meet someone new.

Wearing an oversized white t-shirt

Fashion inspiration!

Of course NYC is a fashion capital, home of the best designers in the whole world. The street runway.

I had to visit Comme des Garçons boutique in Chelsea.

I absolutely recommend to visit it, even thought you are not a fan of the brand.

The entrance is a little bit odd, there is no sign you are in a boutique. Filled with graffiti and street art, a completely new and iconic, almost “museum” experience for fashion lovers.

I must admit that as a planning freak I struggled with my daily outfits.

I wanted to wear certain outfits at certain places, but in a trip like this, plans can change from one day to another. To mention that it was 98º outside.

Street performers at Time Square

I think one of the most surprising things I realized about New York is the energy and intensity that fills places like Time Square. It was exactly how I pictured this iconic place.

Chelsea Market.

Art in NYC. Was it like I imagined?

Art in NYC is essential, street art, modern art, classics, Broadway, everything is there.

The whole city has a cinematic look, and artists are around everytime looking for this inspiration.

Comparing the famous Museum of Modern Art with some museums here in Mexico City I didn’t found that many differences.

Actually, the Jumex Museum has a very similar arquitecture.

Definitely the highlight of my visit was the museum’s bookstore. Surely one of the most beautiful art bookstores I’ve ever been to.

Unfortunetly the Garden was closed due to an event and I couldn’t see it up close!

Brooklyn Bridge.

It was a great trip, I enjoyed every second. I am alredy looking forward to come back, but this time as a student!
