The therapeutic, healing & coaching professionals seem to be a bit behind their own literature in terms of how to heal, as an adult offspring, from the damage caused by a narcissistic parent (or a pair of them, which is an incredible thing in our culture when you get one therapeutic professional to acknowledge that you have one and another therapeutic professional to acknowledge that you have the other, but you somehow can’t manage to get any of them, nor pastoral professionals, to acknowledge that you might have two, and as a result could use some real help & support). No proactive steps other than “set boundaries”. No suggestions concerning how to deal with the Flying Monkeys who continue to deny your accounts of events no matter how much supporting documentary evidence you’re carrying around. NO ideas about what to expect — or even what to demand — when you’re fully cognizant that whatever promises are made will not be kept.

I’m not even sure the therapeutic community knows how to deal with those of us who are in fact fully cognizant of those circumstances and have already worked through acknowledging themselves. They all seem to be, as previously stated, behind their own literature in terms of trying to get the victims of decades of terrible treatment to admit that that’s what’s happened as opposed to continuing to excuse and enable it (especially since those of us who’re familiar with the literature — and who actually follow the media these days as we’re seeing a twisted version of that dynamic play out right in front of our eyes with the Congressional, Executive, & even to some extent Judicial branches in our own American government (and even on the world stage as the Orange’s dangerous & embarrassing episodes play out and play out and he’s snickered at & mocked behind his back with no one being willing to confront him to his face till recently). Some of us are actively looking for what to do next (and finding no help even from the “professionals” who still expect us to treat them like authority figures who are not to be questioned).
