Byron A Brown MD -Tips for New Medical Students

Though he is an experienced medical professional who has worked in his field since graduating from medical school in 1998, Byron A Brown MD still remembers the many challenges that he faced when he was a medical student. Your first few weeks in medical school will often be overwhelming, so try to keep all of these pointers in mind as you adjust.

Prepare for a Challenge

If you have chosen to study medicine you need to understand that there is never going to be any room for complacency in anything that you do. Be prepared to face challenges from the moment you start studying and place yourself in a positive mindset so that you are prepared to tackle them head-on instead of shirking away or attempting to coast through your studies.

Make Friends

The amount of stress that you will be under during your studies may start to get on top of you in a fairly short period of time so it is very important that you make friends so that you have a support group to rely on. This is especially important for those who have moved away from home. Your friends will be there whenever you need to get something off your chest and to help you relax.

Stay Humble

Practically everybody you encounter during your time at medical school will be able to teach you something, so don’t assume that you should only listen to your lecturers or established professionals. Byron A Brown MD notes that even a second-year student will be able to offer valuable advice if you take the time to listen.
