Old black men don a cape for Hillary Clinton
Here John Lewis comes to save the day for big pharma, private prisons, Walmart, etc.
Bernie Sanders spanked Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, but now he’s got the South Carolina primary coming up, and Hillary is at an advantage there because black people in South Carolina still fuxwit the Clintons — this despite what Bill Clinton said about how even Jesse Jackson could win South Carolina, after Obama beat Hillary in the primary there in ‘08.
Not to mention all the other things the Clintons did, including the following:
- Deregulated the banks, which eventually led to the collapse of the economy in ‘08
- Passed the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which eventually led to Peter Rosenberg’s career at Hot 97
- Signed off on NAFTA, which sent all the jobs to Mexico, and sent all the Mexicans here to have “noncon” sex with out women
- “Ended welfare as we know it”
- Enacted tough-on-crime policies, i.e. profiling, and presided over a huge expansion of the prison-industrial complex
And the list goes on!
An article by Michelle Alexander in the Nation the other day, I’m assuming, breaks down how Hillary Clinton was complicit in these anti-black policies, and not just in the sense that obviously she wasn’t attending to her husband’s needs, and that may have led him to pass more draconian laws than he would have otherwise.
I wasn’t able to read the article, because I clicked on it and I got a message saying that I’d already read my alloted number of free Nation articles for the month, and in order to read any more I’d have to enter my email address. I knew that was some ol’ bullshit, because there’s no way I’d read three Nation articles in a month!
Anyway, it should be obvious to any black person with the sense god gave geese that voting for Hillary Clinton is like volunteering to go back to slavery, but Bernie Sanders is gonna have to do something to try to convince the “low information voters” in South Carolina of this, and he doesn’t have much time.
Bernie Sanders proved how serious he was about trying to lock down the black vote by going to play kiss the ring with Al Sharpton, as if this were the 1990s. Arguably, they should give him a delegate just for his willingness to suffer such an indignity.
The meeting took place at Sylvia’s soul food restaurant in Harlem, as mentioned in a Kool Keith song on (maybe) First Come, First Served, or if not that then maybe Matthew. Who knows? It’s also famous for being the restaurant where Bill O’Reilly went and was surprised to see that people weren’t yelling at the waitresses to bring them some MFN ice tea. This is becoming an increasingly important pilgrimage for old white men.
In the one photo I saw of Bernie Sanders and Al Shaprton at Sylvia’s, Sanders seems visibly uncomfortable, and maybe not just because he’s been forced to prostrate himself before Mr. ‘Do. There’s a bottle of hot sauce on the table, and I’m thinking Sanders may have put some on his chicken. You know a lot of Jews can’t handle spicy food. Once, I suggested that this was because they come from a very shallow gene pool and someone got all butthurt, so I’ll refrain from that here. I don’t know if there’s any truth to that anyway. I was just foolin’!
Bernie Sanders has been to at least two soul food restaurants, if you count that restaurant he went to with Killer Mike in Atlanta. He can add this to his list of experiences in the civil rights movement, including attending the March on Washington alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Allegedly.
Congressman John Lewis says he was at the civil rights movement, and he didn’t see Bernie Sanders. Lewis spoke at an event to announce the Congressional Black Caucus PAC’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton, which obviously was purposely timed to kneecap Bernie Sanders going into South Carolina.
We know John Lewis was at the civil rights movement because we’ve all seen those pictures of him getting hit over the head with a nightstick on the Edmund Pettus bridge in Selma, AL. I never saw the movie Selma, but I can’t imagine it wouldn’t have been in there as well.
On Twitter yesterday, I saw people employing the Beyhive-like tactic of mounting a preemptive defense of Lewis in hopes that someone might want to argue with them. It just goes to show how egregious his statement was — they know full well he ought to be attacked for that shit, just like he was attacked back in the ’60s. (Literally, with the same nightstick.)
I appreciate the fact that the guy got his ass beat, and he’s a civil rights icon and a legendary politician, but I don’t believe that makes him beyond criticism. That’s almost like giving a rapper credit for having been shot nine times.
I give credit to the shooter.
Because this is Twitter we’re talking about, it’s quite possible that literally no one on there realizes that this is the same John Lewis the Clintons trotted out to shit-talk Jesse Jackson in 1992 and Obama in ’08. That’s what he does. He’s like their own personal attack dog.
It makes you wonder a couple of things: (1) Is there anyone he wouldn’t attack on behalf of the Clintons? (2) What could they have possibly done for him to inspire such loyalty?
Was the broad who played the public defender on Night Court involved?
The Intercept has an article that breaks down what a fucking sham the Hillary endorsement by the Congressional Black Caucus PAC was.
Turns out, the Congressional Black Caucus and the CBC PAC aren’t the same thing. One is the 40 some-odd black members of Congress, which seems like a lot, except there’s like 535 members in Congress, right? (The one class in college I failed was a freshman-level government class.)
The CBC PAC is made up primarily of lobbyists. Of the 20 members of the CBC PAC board who voted to endorse Hillary, 11 were lobbyists, 7 were actual elected officials and two were people who work for the PAC, tallying up the amounts of their various bribes and what have you.
Included amongst the lobbyists were the following:
- A lobbyist for the pharma company that makes Oxycontin, a/k/a Pharma Coon
- A lobbyist for the tobacco company that makes Newport cigarettes (no, really)
- And a lobbyist for the student loan company that was spun off from Sallie Mae
Arguably, the lobbyist on behalf of the makers of Oxycontin is doing the lord’s work, because they’re about to start letting non-violent drug offenders out of prison and decriminalizing drugs just because a lot of CACs are getting hooked on heroin because they can’t afford Oxycontin.
Always look on the bright side of your life.
The CBC and the CBC PAC aren’t the same thing, but the former does take money from the latter. And the latter gets its money from CACs, including a longtime lobbyist for Corrections Corporation of America, and a lobbyist for Walmart, who was once on the Clinton payroll. Hillary herself is — or was? — a member of Walmart’s board of directors, which ought to let you know where she comes down on paying people decent wages.
A few members of the CBC have already come out and said that they didn’t have shit to do with the vote in which the CBC PAC decided to endorse Hillary; either they’re not endorsing a candidate in this election, or they’re definitely not supporting Hillary.
If they’re really concerned with preventing Hillary from becoming the next president, it might be necessary for them to go on TV and say some off brand shit about Hillary. Nothing sexist or anything (yet), but people need to understand that she’s running on behalf of private prisons, Sallie Mae, Walmart, Newport cigarettes, the Iraq War, so on and so forth.
