I’ve said to a few people that the Apple Watch is one of the first Apple products that I haven’t wanted to spend money on — not that it’s affordable now in any case.

Reviews like this are partly why.

I like a watch to tell the time and auxiliary functions like fitness etc are great, but I surf, so I need a watch that is waterproof, not sweat resistant.

I have a full sleeve on my left arm, and the reviews of Apple Watch sensors not functioning to full capacity because of the ink imbedded in my skin make me weary.

So for now, I’ll stick to the Rip Curl Search GPS. It’s aimed at what I do, it doesn’t require my iPhone to be near me, and it tells the time, and measures my surf sessions.
