So much of activism is about voice: who gets to speak, who doesn’t, and whose voice is ultimately heard. On March 24th, millions nationwide led demonstrations across 800 U.S cities in demand for gun control reform. The main march occurred in Washington DC, led by the survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, which caused 17 people to lose their lives.

The majority of the protests were led by middle school and high school students. Before the protest, I met with members from Students Against School Shooting (SASS), a coalition of students from Iowa City’s two main high schools and it’s main middle school.

This podcast is a look at these students, before, during and after the march.
