Looking past the Illusions of Not Feeling Good Enough

Time to implement new paths of opportunity

When I was a young child, the girls at my Junior school wouldn’t play with me and treated me with immature disdain — as if they could smell my shame and unworthiness.

Throughout my adult life — during certain circumstances — I have never been able to shake off those feelings. Even now, my business isn’t breaking through — and I can taste that moment of bleak agonizing unworthiness. It’s fleeting, but it’s there.

I’m not popular, and sometimes judge my work by others who are. I’m sure it’s all too easy (and normal) to compare ourselves in our modern digital age. Nothing is sacred anymore, and so many highlighted reels don’t show the sheer hard work and grief behind it.

Trying to grasp why we can’t detach from that sense of not feeling enough isn’t a straightforward feat.

I feel down and flat, trying to push harder against the force of its illusion. Am I getting weaker or is the illusion getting stronger? Maybe it’s not even either of…
