I love articles, like this one, which cast individuals in the best light possible. I always though procrastination on an assignment was something people simply did because they would rather do something else instead — a matter of preference. But, I love how the author broke down my assumption and showed that the habit of procrastination was in reality part of a bigger problem in these individuals’ lives. Procrastination is a result of fear and doubt in one’s understanding and abilities, something which I could connect with. Judgments form in the lack of connection people have with one another.
It is easy to point out faults in other, but to try to understand someone and see how they view their world, that requires real thinking. And better yet, to point out that we all need to acquire the humility to step back and recognize our own flawed thinking so we can improve ourselves— that is where the genius of this article lies. I love how E. Price focused on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs when explaining human behavior. I do believe that all humans what to be good and successful memebers of society, but like E Price said, physical, mental, or financial barriers can create stumbling blocks. It is important that we educate ourselves, hold back prejudices, and most importantly love those around us. There are so many people who quietly struggle and I want to join E Price in creating a safe place for these people to be heard. Understanding one another makes it possible to love one another, and when we do that the world is a better place.
