Hi Greg, thanks for the response.

Yes the run example I made is what Make calls a “phony target” and I totally understand that the way I use Make can feel like a perversion to those who use it to link and compile complex projects. I guess the main reason I use it is because I modeled python.mk after elm.mk. But also there is a possibility that in the future I might have a legitimate build target, especially if I decided to incorporate some packaging functionality like pex.
