I would doubt that moving to Berlin was ever just pure escapism from a sad life in Eastern Westphalia. I mean the willingness to leave your whole life behind must show some level of ambition?
Besides that i agree with the general point of view. If somebody is really that concerned abt the lack of 90s in Berlin, maybe moving on to Leipzig or Posen or Kiev or whatever they feel suits their idea of ‘cool’ better, might be a smarter solution.
