Amen to that Srini! Gratitude and joy are the fuel that makes the world go around. Competition and comparison just **feel** wrong in the gut, while gratitude and creation feel exhilarating.
I do think it’s an interesting sociocultural phenomenon to delve into though, to understand us as humans a little better. I heard for example some time ago that the Inuit Eskimo people were just fine being who they were till some of them got a hold of television. When they began seeing how other humans were living and what they had, depression rates began rising.
So I wonder what there is that is built in so deep within our psychological makeup, that makes this tendency to compare and compete so powerful. Perhaps the biological quest for ever more resources?
